HAPPY-2016

How to keep New Year Resolutions to Lose Weight… Don’t Wait for 2016… Start Now!

Instead of waiting for New Year’s Eve to come and go and make the same empty, half-hearted resolutions, let me show you how to keep New Year Resolutions to Lose Weight, no matter how many times you’ve tried and failed before.

Thanksgiving is behind us and if you’re anything like me you’ve put on some extra pounds. I weighed myself on Monday Nov. 30th and I was at 188 lbs. I want to start 2016 at 180 lbs and to get down to 160 lbs as quick as I can.

I started 2015 at over 200 lbs and made it down to 172.4 lbs. Not bad, that’s the least amount that I have weighed in over 30 years. Under 160 lbs is really my goal for next year 2016. Not only get under 160 lbs, but to make that my new Max weight, and never go over that. In other words, Stop Yo-Yo Dieting.

I jogged a 5 kilometer in 33 mins, not bad, but not the 28:20 which was my best time for a 5k when I was in my 30’s. I’m convinced I can beat that time in 2016 if I can get my weight down. In 2016 I’ll be 67.

Will “Lose Weight” Be On Your 2016 New Year’s Resolution List

I don’t know what your history is with New Year Resolutions, but I can take a guess. You probably start the new year resolutions list from a position of pain, something that’s bothering you about yourself. High on the list for a lot of us is your health and your weight.

Was “Lose Weight” one of your 2015 New Year’s Resolution? How did you do? Did you lose weight? More important… did you keep it off? Is Lose Weight going to be on your 2016 New Year’s Resolution List?

2016 starts off for me again with, “Get to my ideal weight”.

What am I going to do different this year is… Don’t Wait for 2016 to start… I’m going to Start Now!

Why Start Now

By starting before the new year I’m setting myself up for success in the future. I’m putting my eating program into effect, I’m getting in the habit of eating healthy. I don’t diet, I eat healthy, I Eat To Live. The average weight loss for somebody that starts on Dr. Fuhrman’s “Eat To Live” program is 20 lbs. in six weeks. I don’t have six weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas, but my goal isn’t to lose 20 lbs.

The healthier I eat, the stricter I follow Eat To Live the more weight I’ll lose, the healthier I’ll be and the longer I’ll live. That is really the goal. The goal is not to lose weight it is to live longer.

How To Start

Losing weight and being healthy starts with what you put into your mouth. It’s Nutrition first. I’m going strict on Eat To Live, from today until Christmas, then strict again from Christmas until New Year’s Eve and if I’m really good I can start the new year considerably lighter than I did last year.

I probably won’t be doing any more jogging this year, but I will be walking every day 30 minutes or more. I will do my stretching, deep breathing and meditation every day. I will be doing my Lifeline 15/15 workout three times a week. I don’t do these things for weight loss, I do them because they make me feel good.

At the very least I hope you can walk 30 minutes every day.

Some techniques that I do use specifically for weight loss is to weigh myself daily, the reason I do that are explained in detail are in this article, How Often Should You Weigh Yourself ?

I firmly believe that a scale can help you to lose weight and live longer, provided you don’t obsess with the numbers on the scale. Focus on weighing yourself daily, to monitor your progress to determining whether your Nutrition and exercise habits are working.

Intermittent Fasting, simply waiting longer for the first meal of the day, allows time for the body to burn the fat. I’m not convinced that, “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day” it may very well be, but I’m not always hungry in the morning. By narrowing the number of hours you eat every day can help you to burn more calories.

I’m usually up before 7 AM without an alarm clock. I start the day with 20 ounces of filtered water (plus ½ tsp. of baking soda) and then my morning coffee. I’m not usually hungry until 10 AM or sometimes Noon.

I don’t eat anything after 8 PM so that narrows my feeding window to 10 hours or less. That means I’m fasting 12 to 14 hours every day.

If you’re hungry eat, if you’re not hungry wait. If you’ve been on “Eat To Live” for any period of time the hunger will be True Hunger and not the Toxic Hunger Dr. Fuhrman describes in his books.

Why You Should Start Now

To become the healthiest you can be. To give yourself the best gift you can give yourself. To instill the concept  that you’re not giving up anything, you’re giving yourself something. You can have all of taste tempting foods we all love, but every day is not Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner.

By eating strict from now until Christmas you will actually enjoy that next ‘Cheat’ meal more than if you didn’t. The anticipation of the perceived pleasure is often greater than the reality of it.

What Does It Take

  • Eat To Live
  • Eat When You’re Hungry
